We must expect to be ill informed, deceived and manipulated by those who spread propaganda, censor truth and engage in ad hominem attacks on truth tellers. Julian Assange, the journalist who published evidence, in its entirety, in the public interest, has been smeared and lied about on many occasions in the corporate media to discredit him and to intimidate other truthful journalists.
A recent propaganda piece by Matthew Knott on the front page of the Herald continues in the tradition of smearing truth tellers. In 2010, Julian had contracted with a publisher to work with a novelist, Andrew O’Hagan, to produce a book entitled Julian Assange: The Unauthorised Autobiography. A draft version was produced and hastily published before Julian was able to correct and fact-check it for himself. In Julian’s words, “the entire book was heavily modified, extended and revised, in particular, to take into account the privacy of the individuals mentioned in the book.” Publishing the book was in breach of the contract which Julian had signed with the publisher.
Fast forward to this week, the Sydney Morning Herald published an article which suggested Andrew O’Hagan, the ghost-writing author of Julian’s [unauthorised] ‘autobiography’ had been recently approached by the FBI, seeking an interview about Julian. Mr O’Hagan is reported as refusing to be interviewed on the grounds that he opposes any attempt to punish Julian, a fellow journalist, for publishing the truth. This suggests Mr O’Hagan to be firmly on Julian’s side, but apparently far from it, because he is then quoted smearing Julian, with the usual false ad hominem attacks, including the one that Julian is a narcissist. A journalist who selflessly publishes in the public interest, rather than his own self-interest is an altruist – the exact opposite of a narcissist.
The article by Matthew Knott perpetuates unfounded smears against Julian in the minds of the people.
In the information war which is currently being waged against truth and human decency, we must expect corporate media to publish articles which undermine Julian’s support.
We cannot control the corporate media, but we can resist their propaganda. We need to build unity through the truth. The corporate media promote ignorance and confusion. They cannot be trusted. Just as a leopard cannot change its spots, the corporate media cannot stop its lies or its propaganda, because that is exactly what it is funded not to do.
Julian Assange is completely innocent and all the evidence we have is that he is a decent human being, determined to uphold human rights and justice for everyone. He is worthy of our support!
