Welcome to the 220th week of Julian Assange Sydney Town Hall gatherings.
Day X is fast approaching. Day X refers to the 20th and 21st of February when Julian Assange will arguing for the right to appeal his extradition to the US, in the UK high court. Julian is completely innocent but his journalism has been deeply embarrassing for the US empire, as it has revealed criminality including war crimes and torture by the US. It is anticipated that many people, all over the world will gather to show their support of Julian Assange during the hearing.
The hearing will be a continuation of a legal pantomime that has been put on for more than 13 years. This pantomime has managed to hinder Julian’s much-needed journalism and is designed to discourage the realisation of a truly free society which allows everyone’s human rights to be respected. If we want to live with human dignity, we need to make sure we can all exchange information freely. The freedom of Julian Assange is therefore essential!
Thomas Merton wrote, “There must be a completely free exchange of ideas. Minority opinions, even opinions which may appear to be dangerous, must be given a hearing, clearly understood and seriously evaluated on their own merits, not merely suppressed. Religious beliefs and disciplines must be respected. The rights of the individual conscience must be protected against every kind of open or occult encroachment.”
Many people value Julian’s work. In making important truthful information known, Julian has prompted many to realise the importance of standing up for those who bravely speak the truth.
Instead of allowing our narratives to be controlled by the useless parasites of society, we can communicate optimistically with the 8 billion people of the world. It is important that we create positive narratives with positive outcomes so that we expand the deliberately narrowed spectrum of debate. Day X can be promoted as an important crossing over from the negative consciousness of the past to a positive consciousness of the future.
We can promote Day X as the time when we can all come together in recognition that our power resides in the truth and that truth is the path to peace.
As Ghandi wrote,
“The way of peace is the way of truth. Truthfulness is even more important than peacefulness. Indeed, lying is the mother of violence. A truthful man cannot long remain violent.”
Ghandi went on to say, “The attainment of freedom, whether for a man, a nation or the world, must be in exact proportion to the attainment of non-violence by each. Let those, therefore, who believe in non-violence as the only method of achieving real freedom keep the lamp of non-violence burning bright in the midst of the present impenetrable gloom. The truth of a few will count; the untruth of millions will vanish even like chaff before whiff of wind.”
Freedom for Julian Assange will bring forth a new era of human cooperation! Those with power over others will resist the freedom of Julian Assange, but their resistance will eventually be futile. Eight billion people in possession of the truth will inevitably defeat the parasite class.
It is time to stand up for Julian Assange! It is time to stand up for the truth! It is time to stand up for a just and meaningful existence! Help free Julian Assange!
